    About

Made from just two skeins of yarn, this shawl has turned out much larger than I had expected. It could be adapted to any weight of yarn (just adjust needle size to suit); work the increase section until almost all of the first skein has been used and then continue on to work the decreases to the distant point.

    • Single Point 4.00mm (US 6) 33cm

Finished shawl measures 162 cm (64 in) wingspan x 46 cm (18 in)

@Stella Ackroyd: I know I will. Just need more knitty hours in the day! I've got the yarn for Mitford as my Christmas holiday knit for me and now you entice me with this one :-)

@Stella Ackroyd: I'm not sure! I have Sarsparilla and either Coop knits in Malachite (a sort of fir green) or the same yarn in Almandine which is a burnt orangey shade. Whatever I don't use will be my Agatha. Which do you prefer? The Almandine would probably go best with my winter coat as a scarf but I'm dithering!!!!

@Pat E: Great idea! The Coop knits yarn will work well for both of those patterns, it's a good choice! As you know, I love Sarsparilla and think it'd look lovely with Malachite, leaving the Almandine for Agatha, which will be absolutely stunning! I want to copy you, but have got a lot on my needles just now - you'll be pleased to know I'm taking a break over Christmas to knit a wedding shawl for my daughter, that should give you chance to catch up ;-)

@Stella Ackroyd: I've got a plan now!!! I've just finished all my customer orders and have a baby blanket on my needles. My dearest friend saw a blanket she thought of buying for her son and his wife for when their baby was born. Sadly a month ago she had a sudden massive brain haemorrhage and died before she could buy it. I went to try and get the blanket but they'd sold out. I found a picture on line and am now knitting my version in her memory to go to her son. She may not be able to hold her great grandchild physically but it will be wrapped in her love and mine. I'm crying many tears over this but I need to do it. We'd seen each other every Thursday for over 27 years and we were so very close. We've had joy amongst our sadness though as our 2nd grandson arrived last Thursday. Have a lovely Christmas Stella and hope you get lots of knitty. A wedding shawl how wonderful! xx

@Pat E: that’s lovely, Pat, and I’m sure that every stitch will be appreciated. Your friend would have been very touched. Knit happily and have a great Christmas with your growing family! Stella x

@Pat E: Beautiful idea to make the blanket from your friend. Baby will have double the love from you both.
