    About

Astro was feeling the cold as winter approached, but loves going out for a walk. His blue coat 2016 has helped him keep warm as well as giving him freedom of movement when he is out walking or running
His new red coat was a modification on the first version and finished for the cold winter we have had here in the UK 2017-2018.

Patons merino extrafine big - (331) - Cherry 6.0 balls

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 6.00mm (US 10)
    • Single Point 7.00mm (US 10.75)

    Accessories

    • Buttons
Other : Blue coat: 7 large matching blue buttons to fasten under chest and at neck: 4 for under chest and 3 for neck
Red coat: 9 large red buttons, 5 for chest, 4 for neck

    Measurements

Chest 49cm, length 45cm, length 33cm at front legs

Notes: Astro is a fit, slim miniature poodle so needed different measurements compared to the pattern. First coat: Blue. Knitted the pattern square but folded bottom points and stitched on wrong side to accommodate dog's rear end. Didn't knit the legs, rather just cast off and cast back on at his front legs. Then knitted 3 further cables. The flaps are wrapped around his chest and fastened with buttons secured by crotched button holes. Crocheted double crochet round edge of coat for strength. Adjusted buttons to fit dog's shape. Astro's 2nd coat was completed in red and was a modification of the first: shaped for a boy dog, more flexibility at front legs and longer at the neck for warmth
