    About

I hadnt knitted for a few years.
My eldest sister recently died which Ive been struggling to come to terms with, so I thought Id give it a go again.
My nephew and his wife were expecting their first child, born yesterday, and so decided to knit something for the new baby.
Ive only ever knitted adult projects before and thought this might ease me back in again.
It took me about 2 weeks to complete the jacket and hat, which was quite quick for me!
The only problem I had was when I attached the first sleeve. It didnt look very good so I tried unpicking it to redo but because I couldnt tell the difference Id undone the knitting rather than the seam! So I sewed it back up and left it as it is in the photo.
Even though its early days yet Ive found its helped having something positive to focus on and I will definitely carry on knitting now.

So sorry to hear of your loss, but pleased to know that having a knitting project has helped you.
Lovely baby outfit. Your choice of colours really sets it off! I love the hat and booties you have knitted to go with the jacket.
As they aren’t on the same pattern as the jacket, please could you tell me which pattern you used. Many thanks

I know exactly how you feel after the loss of your sister, I used to knit & crochet a lot before my husband got sick and then passed away and it took me a couple of years to really get back into it. Now I have at least 4 projects on the go at any one time. I just love the simply but really stunning outfit. WELL DONE.

I live in Australia and my niece and nephew were born in the UK. When they were little I showered them with hand knitted garments - it was the only way I felt I could envelop them with hugs!

The love we put into our knitting more than makes up for any perceived shortcomings. I'm sure your nephew and his family will treasure your handmade gift!

My condolences at the loss of your sister. I hope the creativity and love that are so much a part of knitting for others continues to heal you.

Thanks for sharing! The sweater set is adorable ... you did a wonderful job! I may try to make a set. We have a pregnancy ministry close by and some precious baby would look so sweet in this. I know what you mean about knitting helping to heal the pain of loss and/or strengthen us in times of great stress. I unwind every evening with a skein of yarn and a set of knitting needles -- it's the best!
