    Late last year Mum had a fall and broke her foot and, due to her age (she's 81 soon), it has been very slow to heal and has not only been very painful but also very frustrating for her as she is a keen gardener and always very active. I am a keen knitter and always have something on the go (a lace wedding shawl at present for my daughters wedding later this year), spending my evenings watching TV with Mum and knitting away. I could see that she was so fed up with herself, thoroughly bored with her situation and needing something to get involved in. Then along came Bella (we called her that as her great grandaughters middle name is Arrabella). I downloaded the pattern, ordered the wool and we set too. Mum was an excellent knitter many years ago, so just a brief re-cap, and off she went. She has thoroughly enjoyed making this doll - it really lifted her spirits and has kept her happily engrossed for weeks. So much so, she has knitted a matching hat for India too.
