    About

This is such a delightful pattern that I decided to make it again for my grand daughters. This one is for Hannah, the eldest. She loves to wear pretty dresses and I can just imagine this over one of her lovely flowing dresses. I am always looking for suitable garments to knit for their warm Hong Kong climate, and this ticked the box! I chose Rico Cotton DK yarn as its so lovely and soft and knits up well, and has a great colour range. I am delighted to say that when we were up in Hong Kong for Christmas last month Hannah asked me if I could teach her to knit when she is older... with much pleasure :)

Thid hasn’t turned out quite right for me Denise - yours is so beautiful but mine is just far too long, I’m knitting the 12 month size. Think I’ve read the pattern wrong as I’ve read right side shaping to be worked first followed by wrong side shaping - I’m guessing they should be done at the same time which would produce less rows? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I have had a look at the pattern again for the Harriet Bolero and I am trying to work out which part you mean. After you have separated the sleeves from the body in that one big complex row, you then knit 3 rows without any shaping. Next you decrease at each end of Right Side rows only, 5 Right Side rows for 12 month size. After that you decrease at each end of every row, 11 rows for 12 month size, so this is both right side and wrong side rows at the same time for this part. I hope this helps as this is really a beautiful bolero.

Thank you. I chose the Rico Cotton yarn again after being introduced to it when I knitted your beautiful 'Sundress with Matching Sunhat' pattern recently. I followed the same yarn as the pattern and really loved it. And I am pleased to say the sundress is much loved by Eva and her parents.
