        Firm stuffing then I put a stitch from one hoof to the other passing up through the leg, through the middle of the stuffing in his tummy and down the leg to the opposite hoof pulled the wool tight until it was stable and fastened it off. A bit fiddly but it worked.

        @Dianne A: sounds fiddly but it looks great. I stuffed firmly but never thought of reinforcing - might try to do it in retrospect though, thanks.
