    About

Regular viewers will remember Benny Hedgehogson from last year. Benny was faithfully (well, mostly…) recreated from a 40-something-year-old pattern and took YEARS (no, really - actual YEARS!) to complete. Anyway, I was so delighted with how he (eventually) turned out that I decided he needed a jumpsuit-wearing friend: BURT BADGERACH!

The original pattern used buttons for but I couldn’t find any of a suitable size. After much pondering, I eventually went for favourite eye technique: knotted eyes. The only downside was that I had to position them on the white bit of Burt’s head otherwise they wouldn’t show up. I then became paranoid that he just didn’t look, um, ‘badgery’ enough.

Having spent longer than is healthy Googling badgers, I decided to knit a second head and see if I could somehow make it a bit more ‘badgery’. But, as the days went by, I became rather fond of Burt’s existing head and realised that I couldn’t bring myself to decapitate him!

I know what you mean - I've spent hours in the shop choosing a colour then wishing I'd got the other one when I'd got home! Must say though - your other work & colour choices are superb. Have faith, you're better than you think!

I'm terrible and tend to buy all the colours - then I do the deciding at home. Over many, many hours! Thank you for the lovely compliment - my usual way of selecting colours is to think "would George Michael have worn shorts in this colour when he was in Wham!?" if the answer's yes then I know I'm on the right track!

Trish - now there's a thought!... if Benny took years perhaps you're thinking ahead a bit too far. x

That's a very good point, Eve! Although, knowing me, it would probably take to choose the 'perfect' colour than it would to knit the thing! x

Thanks, Eve! I sometimes wonder if I should scale up the pattern and make a jumpsuit for myself! 🤔

@Marysia D: How hard can it?! (Famous last words uttered by every knitter ever at some point... ;-))

What a gorgeous guy, bit like his namesake, not that I'm actually old enough to remember him!

Thanks, Christine! I think Burt once did a duet with the other Burt but it was a long, long time ago! ;-)
