The scarf is knitted in double/shadow knitting where you knit the pattern in 2 colours at once so that the contrast colour on one side becomes the main colour on the other. It was my first attempt at this method and my only problem is that the variegated, lighter yarn had patches almost the same shade as the contrast colour making the pattern difficult to distinguish at times. My Mum loved it so much when it was finished though that she has already started wearing it herself!
