    About

My Daughter recently acquired some real life chickens and wanted an ornamental match for her bedroom. I am currently on a second batch having already knitted and stuffed 9 for her school teachers and friends. Now knitting the original 3 for my daughter. They are such good fun, easy to knit and when stuffed with weighted balls very effective door stops or ornaments. I have adapted the pattern slightly, so omitted legs and wings as too fussy. Here simple is more effective I feel. Each chicken takes a day to knit and another day to put together. Have started another batch today.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 7.00mm (US 10.75) 30cm

    Accessories

    • Buttons
    • Tapestry Needle
Other : I used buttons as eyes for the chickens. I used to kinds of filling, 1 weighted balls for the base to a measurement of 1kg and then soft fibre filling upwards.

    Measurements

Notes: Didn't make any changes to sizes but did omit legs and wings as very fussy and more effective in a simpler style. I did knit on slightly larger needles than listed in pattern which seemed to produce just a slightly larger product more conducive for a door stop.
