    About

    After knitting 2 blankets and 6 bunny bags I decided to branch out and make cardigans for my grandchildren... I'm a bit rusty and by no means an expert but I thought I'd have a go... I thought I'd start on the sleeves but found it a bit tricky adjusting the pattern due to the increasing stitches for shaping bit I think I've cracked it now... I have 5 small granddaughters so this could keep me busy for a while to come. .. updates and photos to follow..

    After a busy weekends knitting I now have all the pieces ready to put together...I didn't do a tension square so now the age 1-2 looks like it will fit my 4 year old granddaughter!! πŸ˜€πŸ˜‚.
    I've now made a smaller version using size 3 and.3.5 needless and knitted the 3/6 months size which will still fit my one year old granddaughter

    Measurements

    1-2 years

    Notes: It's huge but I think that's my fault for not doing a tension square...I was going to make another for my elder granddaughter so it's ok

      Got a bit carried away and have now made a third cardigan..I made it in age 3-4 but made the length longer to fit my older granddaughter as she's tall but very slim.. The 3 cardigans have cost a total ofΒ£20 in wool so I'm really pleased with the finished items.. Just have to finish off the last one and sew the buttons on the smallest one then fingers crossed they all fit and don't fall apart in the wash! Incidentally I knitted both sleeves at the same time on the last one... Does anyone else do this? I always find knitting the sleeves the most boring part and to get them both done together meant they were both finished at once and also they are both exactly the same tension etc...

      Now I'm worried the sleeves won't be long enough πŸ™„

        Mines multi coloured as you can now see by the photos.. I'm going to have to make a smaller one now as I didn't use the specified wool or do a tension square... Hence the cardigan is huge.... It will fit my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter but she was found to have a brighter version and the pale one was for her younger sister. .. serves me right for rushing in... But then it's only taken a week so I guess it's not too bad

        Did you do a tension square? Is it coming up the right size?

        @Amanda D: no tension square
        It has come out a little large, but Elsie will grow into it x

        @Pam S: I thought I must just knit too loosely... What about the sleeves? I'm wondering if they'll be to short compared to the larger body πŸ˜‚. Guess I've learnt a lesson here... Maybe I'll make my first tension square ever next time....
