    About

These Mittens are wonderfully thick and warm with a gorgeous, chunky, classic knitted horseshoe cable running up the top of the hand. The pattern is beautifully written and so easy to follow you have a pair of Mittens knit up practically before you know it! You can find the pattern on a wonderful Etsy Shop called: by the river knits, which is based in Cambridge, Canada. Although they’re from a different designer than the Chunky Cable Hat (knifty knittings) on my project page, I find them to make a perfect set together. I love the squared effect the Kitchener stitch grafting at the fingertips gives. They also have one of the best/easiest thumbs I’ve encountered in a mitten pattern, leaving almost no pesky little hole to tidy up. They take less than one skein of Lion Brand Yarn.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Double Point 8.00mm (US 11)

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stitch Holder
    • Cable Needle
Other : When cabling, I always find it helpful to use stitch markers placed to section off the cable portion (unless it is done by placing the entire cable section on one dpn by itself).

    Measurements

Notes: Women’s Medium: 7” top of mitten to wrist, 3.5” wide at palm.
I made no changes to the pattern and found it true to gauge and expected finished size.
