My sister wanted a throw for her sofa bed. We measured up and I designed a pattern in squares (so I could knit on the train). You could use the design with different weights and different combinations of squares if you wanted to make it in a different size. The super chunky yarn knitted up really quickly.
I sewed the squares together in rows and then sewed the rows together.
I finished off with a few tassels along the bottom and top.

On the chart the dots represent purled stitches on a knit row and knitted stitches on a purl row.
If you aren't used to reading a chart the knit rows read from right to left and purl rows left to right.
