I've had this pattern on my 'to-knit' list for a while. It's deliciously flowery, perfect for Spring Spirit, but still warm enough for April in Canada. Can't wait to see the real flowers blooming in my garden.
After picking up the steeked stitches and knitting the sleeves and collar, I realised that the seam needed some serious reinforcing, using kitchener stitch. That took me a while, so the sweater is now ready to wear... in June. Oh well, it's feel great to wear on chilly evenings.
I finally got the courage to steek. The edges look jagged, even if the stitches were reinforced before cutting. It'll all look better once the sleeves and buttonband are knit - I hope, at least.
The colourwork is finished, all that's left to do before starting the sleeves is steeking the arm openings and the front opening. Of course, I'm terrified....
About halfway through the chart, the pattern is starting to show. The stranded colourwork has three colours in a row, so a bit of untangling is necessary while knitting. The front decreases happen in pattern, so that's another thing to figure out.
I have admired your work on other projects. Please post a photo when you are done. The flowers (roses?) look pretty. My rose bushes here in the northeast US are just now beginning to not look like a bunch of dead sticks and are sending out new growth shoots. Seems late this year.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I just started the stranded colourwork a couple of nights ago, and it's going smoothly. I'll post another picture when that part is done, and another when the sweater is finished.
So, the rose bushes are slowly coming out of hibernation in New England? That must be a nice sight. We're a bit behind in Montreal, but the 'big melt' will come in time. Hoping to see the roses soon, other than the ones on my sweater ;0)
