Finding tops and sweaters that fit me without requiring alterations is often like finding a needle in a hay stack as I've got the joy of being three different dress sizes from bust to waist to hips. Since I started knitting, I have avoided making sweaters for myself because I knew the results would be the same as something I bought in a store - ill fitting up top in order to accommodate my wide hips - only much more expensive. Then....I learned how to modify sweater patterns. Oh my! Suddenly a whole new world of knitting, of clothes that truly fit, had cracked wide open before me. I. Was. Thrilled!! So now I am knitting my way through a lovely cardigan in a soft yarn that I know, without any shadow of a doubt, will fit me perfectly. I can't help but grin every time I pick up my needles. Wouldn't you?
