    About

My husband died unexpectedly in December 2015 so during November / December 2016 I decided I needed a big knitting project to keep myself occupied. I designed this jumper for my son-in-law to encompass all his favourites; he is the drummer in a heavy metal band, his favourite sweets are liquorice allsorts, he loves all to do with Star Wars and his pride and joy is his Aprilla motor bike, not forgetting his tattoos and support of Arsenal.
I did not have a pattern, I just used a tension swatch to work out the numbers of stitches and rows.
I used Fairisle knitting for the tattoos, sweets and Star Wars and knitted applique for the drums, bike and cannon.
The back is just stripes of the 3 main colours.
It certainly kept me occupied during the lead-up to and anniversary of my husband's death and funeral and it was a real delight as each section was completed satisfactorily. The applique sections gave me a real challenge, but worked perfectly.
    Dave loved it!

Brilliant jumper. You've done so well, and I hope the challenge and finished jumper made you as happy as Dave looks.

What a fabulous sweater. I'm glad that knitting this helped you through a difficult time. The pictures show how delighted your son in law was with his new sweater. What a work of art. X
