Notes: I went slightly off-piste with some of the stripe arrangements in order to make the best use of the yarn. Colour 1 (in my case black) ran out very quickly. Colour 3 (grey) was about right and I used up 3 balls exactly by keeping my eye on how much was used per row and adjusting the number of rows accordingly (there is a long section using just this colour). I was left with half a ball of colour 2 (cream). I added an extra row of the cream dots right at the end so that I had 3 full repeats of the dot-dot-stripe pattern. I also added an extra row of black at the end of the striped section to break up the cream and grey a bit. I kept both balls of colour attached doing the stripes so I didn't have a load of ends to weave in. Finally, I used the long cast on tail to pick up the 6 cast on stitches and knit 'backwards' several rows, reducing down to 2 before casting off. This gave the shawl a pointed end, as I decided I didn't like the blunt corner.
