I made a simple crochet blanket in polyester for my daughter 35 years ago, and to my delight, just found out she still sleeps with it. I called it "Big Girl Blanket", and was an award for graduating from her crib to a big girl bed.
This one is done with a specific colour sequence. There are three types of yarn, long strand variegated, medium strand variegated and solid tweed. The three long strands are done alternating with the other two types. It looks random but the organization of it renders a finished look that's very pleasing to the eye.
