I wanted a dressy cowl for my coat, and picked this one with sparkly silver threads. I found this pattern at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/quick-slip-cowl
This pattern is linen stitch, a deceptively simple design that demands exacting accuracy. I started practicing it for dishcloths -- lovely and strong, as a discipline. With this bulky, thick-and-thin yarn it looks nothing like the dishcloth results. It’s wild, and I had to do as much frogging as knitting along the way.
Linen stitch uses up a lot of yarn and is beautiful and sturdy. Even with large needles, the weave is tight and the project smaller than one knitted with smaller needles
