It's a miracle but I've made it..!
There was a misprint on Row 39 of the original printed pattern - Stylecraft put an erratum up on their website, but unless you happened to be looking there...
What could I say??? I printed their erratum sheet and took it to my local knitting shop, so at least other customers won't have the same problem.
I looked at all that work, and thought hard, and realised that if I left it as it was I'd have put weeks of toil into this project and never be happy with the result. So I started again. Sob!
This time I charted it; and charting is not as hard as you think. Get some good quality squared paper, and a good sharp pencil, and do your own key of symbols, and pace yourself, and you'll soon get the hang of it. There are programs online but being a bit of a plodder I found it easier to do it on paper - it's that thing of being able to keep your finger on the square while your eyes are checking the text you're copying.

After I contacted them with a query, Stylecraft have just kindly sent me an amendment - if anyone else is doing pattern no. 9392 there's a mistake on Row 39!
Which explains at least quite a lot. Da capo..???????
