    About

I'm such a huge fan of Florence Merlin, all her patterns are so beautiful and delicate and use such wonderful yarns. But this pattern was very special.

The pattern/stitches involved are very simple, but this is really an Intermediate/Advanced pattern because it gives you the opportunity to learn advanced skills in terms of reading patterns and challenges you mentally. Unlike normal patterns, it does not lay out every single row and instructions for every single stitch within the pattern for each row. It gives you the basic instructions for the pattern-repeat and then you need to follow and manage that as you undertake the work. This gave me a really good insight into how you think while designing patterns, and would be a good piece of work to undertake if you are interested in designing your own patterns.

As an advanced knitter I found this a challenge until I got used to it, but now I can't wait to do it again and feel I've learnt something new in terms of reading patterns!

Thank you so much :o) I can't take the credit though ...just 'did what Florence told me' in the pattern. Florence is amazing for the beautiful patterns she designs! xx

It's well worth it, Denise, because it is quite a simple pattern. It just makes your brain think differently by having to actually learn what the pattern is doing. It's a great pattern to do this learning on. Hope you give it a go! Good luck ... xxxx :o)
