    About

Gran needed a hat for those "bad hair" days when she was hospitalized after a fall earlier this year. Admittedly, I've never tackled a hat, but I love my Gran and wanted to do something to brighten her day and meet a need. I had some inherited mystery yarn in a neutral colour that would go with almost anything and looked just right for the challenge. I knit a flat entrelac pattern, reducing the stitches on each pass after the third row. After joining the two sides, it looked like a cowl, I pulled yarn through the last row to bring it in right at the top so it finally started to look more like a hat! I knit a band and attached it to the bottom. There was still a small gap at the top; I knitted up a small I-cord, twisted it into a knot and then attached it to cover the opening. It came out perfect! Fit her like a charm, made to order! My first hat was a success! I will have to write out the pattern so I can make more; lots of requests!!
And of course one for me to match Gran's!!

Stunningly beautiful entrelac - this is really, really good - usually it looks all pulled where the stitches have been picked up, but yours is faultless

Thank you so much for your kind words! It is lovely to hear praise and appreciation - I didn't have a pattern, so it was truly a gift from the heart & made with love for my dear Gran - it came out perfectly & fit her just right even though I hadn't taken any measurements and had no idea of what I was doing!
