I hadn't done any knitting in almost 45 years. I have several friends in my chorus who are knitters and last winter I decided to start again to see if it would help my arthritis. It did help my hands but it also gave me a purpose to my more sedentary lifestyle that has come on in the last few years. Like most of us, I became addicted to the beautiful yarn that appears on my computer screen daily. One day, I saw a sale of luxury yarn and decided to attempt a lace shawl for my daughter's birthday. The yarn was luscious, the project was challenging but I managed to do it. She loves it much more than the money that I usually give her. Now most of the knitting I do is for others, gifts for family mostly and, occasionally, something for myself. Recently, I became active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at my church so my knitting has taken on a greater meaning. I can't think of another hobby that can offer so many rewards. I truly do love knitting.
