    About

I am an avid history buff and wanted to combine my fascination for the subject with my passion for knitting.
I used an old Jean Greenhowe booklet for the basic dolls and made the costumes and headdresses up as I went along ( with quite a lot of trial and error along the way!) I also chose to embellish the costumes with beads and other fixings to add to the authenticity.
I am a terrible perfectionist, so I matched the clothing up to portraits of the characters so that each one is instantly recognisable to anyone with a knowledge of Henry and his wives.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this project. I do love making toys for my grandchildren but these little babies are all mine and kept in their own special cabinet.
I have yet to finish Henry and still have a few of the wives' features to embroider.
NB - For the most part, I used up all my scraps and odd balls of wool and bought various sparkle yarns to add a touch of affluence.

All your work has paid off as they are incredible.
Such an achievement. The wives are beautifully dressed and Henry is amazing even though he's waiting for his face. Very well done.

@Donna L: They already look good displayed in the cabinet and will be a great talking point. I think they're original and deserve to be seen by more people.
