    About

I'm hooked on knitting and crocheting items to donate to the Michigan Cat Rescue. They take the items, place them for sale, and all the profits can be used to help sustain the wonderful work they do. I decided I needed to make something for just my family to enjoy!

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
Bernat Super Value - Deep Straw 3.0 balls
    • material-yarn
Bernat Super Value - Soft Fern 3.0 balls
    • material-yarn
Bernat Super Value - Cameo 3.0 balls

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 5.00mm (US 8) 100cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Tapestry Needle
Other : I used stitch markers after each section of lace instruction. That way, if I missed a stitch or got confused (which I do!) I wouldn't have to go back to the beginning to count all over again!

    Measurements

    Notes: Pattern size is 47" x 58" (119.5cm x 147.5cm). I wanted mine a bit longer so it's 58" wide x 60" long (147.5cm x 152.5cm)

Some of the pattern is confusing. Any chance there is a video to show this pattern??

Hi Christi! I did a little research for the pattern. I couldn't locate any videos, but, found someone on Ravelry who charted the pattern! Maybe this will help? https://www.ravelry.com/projects/Athena-PR/lacy-waves-afghan

How many stitches would I cast on at the beginning to end up with a blanket that measures about 30x30 inches?

I'm not really sure. It's really a matter of making sure that the lace pattern is complete on each side of the "downward" point. I know it takes time, but try making up a swatch with the lace pattern and downward point in it and measure it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Here's a tip that helped me: I bought stitch markers (small, white, round rubber ones that aren't in the way), and placed them after each lace repeat on that particular row, and removed them on the return purl row. That way, if I messed up (which I did often!), I could tink back to where I was on that particular part of the lace! It made it so much easier for me to keep track! I have cats, so I had to keep track of the markers! Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any additional questions!

@Kathie S: Thank you sooo much! I'll definitely use the markers! Great tip! I was going to start on it today but I couldn't find an 8 circular long enough in my needle collection. I had to order one. Hopefully I will be able to get started on it in a few days!

Hi Judy, here's the link for the free pattern and ordering the yarn. Any worsted weight yarn will do. The Bernat Super Saver colors mentioned in the pattern are no longer available, and the substitute colors aren't quite the same. Have as much fun knitting this as I did! https://www.loveknitting.com/us/lacy-waves-afghan-in-bernat-super-value?country=US&first_source=eyJzb3VyY2UiOiJMb3Zla25pdHRpbmciLCJjYW1wYWlnbiI6IjE4MDE3X0xLQ09MT1VSRlVMIiwibWVkaXVtIjoiZW1haWwiLCJjb250ZW50IjoiTkEiLCJ0ZXJtIjoiKG5vdCBzZXQpIiwiZ2NsaWQiOiIobm90IHNldCkiLCJibG9nX3BhZ2UiOiIobm90IHNldCkifQ&last_source=eyJzb3VyY2UiOiJMb3Zla25pdHRpbmciLCJjYW1wYWlnbiI6Im5vdGlmaWNhdGlvbnNfa25pdHRpbmdfbmEiLCJtZWRpdW0iOiJlbWFpbCIsImNvbnRlbnQiOiIobm90IHNldCkiLCJ0ZXJtIjoiKG5vdCBzZXQpIiwiZ2NsaWQiOiIobm90IHNldCkiLCJibG9nX3BhZ2UiOiIobm90IHNldCkifQ

Or, try this link directly to the yarnspirations site (where Bernat yarn is)
