My son's girlfriend is such a love. I wanted to make her something really special for Christmas I had a stitch from an afghan pattern that I really wanted to use. When used with a variegated yarn, it reminded me of stained glass. Then I found a beautiful worsted weight boucle yarn in purples and greens (Lael's favorite colors) that I used for the "glass" and a lovely worsted weight plum colored superwash merino yarn for the "metal." The curves in the pattern really lent themselves to shaping the shoulders. It's one of the coziest items I've ever made.
