Thanks Nikki! You've been very helpful! And again, I applaud your ingenuity and creativity in adapting the original pattern, which quite frankly is disappointing, into a very authentic sloth likeness. I will attempt to duplicate what you've done. Thanks again!!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the compliment and I'm very picky about stuff like this too! If you have any other questions don't feel afraid to ask! Happy knitting! :)

When you said you used makeup for the eyes, is that how you did the diagonal darker brown swatches around the eyes? It looks like it was knitted in a darker yarn, but there's no other yarn color listed, plus that would be a significant change in the pattern, figuring out when to change colors, how many stitches, etc. Using makeup is ingenious!. Did you have to seal it somehow so it doesn't rub off? I'm going to try this pattern with your alterations and I hope mine looks just like yours! Thanks so much for your help!!

You're gonna laugh when I tell you this but...I used eyebrow crayon for the diagonal darker color on the cheek and eye area lol and the black around his eyes are his eyelids and they're plastic in which his eyes were inserted. I purchased them and his eyes on glasseyesonline.com I just thought it was so neat that they sell eye lids and thought they were perfect for a sloth! Now you don't have to use eyebrow makeup, just whatever brown coloring you desire to use on yours. I would say something non toxic if a child is handeling him. I'm letting my granddaughters mommy know that he shouldn't be played with until she reaches a certain age due to his eyes and makeup.

@Nikki R: and I keep forgetting to add that I used a different shaped nose. I used the triangle shaped nose because in the real sloth picture, his nose was more triangle and the one pictured in the pattern had a bear nose. Hope this helps!

I have to agree! This is too adorable!! It also looks like you've stuffed the face a little rounder? It looks more 'sloth-like' this way. The eyes and nose are an improved look from the original. Beautiful job!

Oh thank you for pointing out the nose! I did forget to mention that I used a triangle nose and placed his mouth closer to his nose, as that seems to be more close to what a sloth looks like and yes I shaped his face a little more round. It's been so long since I made him, that I forgot some of the things I changed on him. I got his nose from glasseyesonline.com as well as the eyes and lids

I agrre with the other comments that yours looks so much better and cuter than the original pattern. Did you alter it in any way, and can you share what you did? My daughter LOVES sloths and I've been looking for a good sloth pattern, with no success. When I say your Larry, I got so excited and I was all set to order the pattern, only to find it was one I'd already seen and rejected because I didn't think it closely resembled a sloth enough. Yours is exactly what I'm looking for, so what did you do differently? Please help me create a sloth that looks like yours!

Thank you so much! I used the same pattern but different colors and I used cascade 120 for the face and cascade long wood sport for his fingers and toes. I used makeup for his eyes plus I ordered from glasseyesonline.com, his brown eyes and also eyelids for that more slanted looked that sloths have. Otherwise I followed the pattern; sorry it took so long to respond! Haven't been on here in awhile! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I ordered his eyes & eyelids from glass eyes online.com and I can't remember the size but it seems like they were 12 mm. I'm out of state right now and can't look at the pattern but it will state what size. Also I used makeup for his cheeks/eyes :)
