    About

My cousin wanted a special occasion outfit for her son and had a picture of an expensive two-piece knit. I combined features from two patterns I purchased (Milla’s Summer Suit by PetiteKnit and Top Down Baby Pullover) to make the sweater pullover part. The finished project is reminiscent of the original picture. It fits perfectly. I am almost done with the second piece, a romper. My nephew probably will outgrow the outfit before the event in July. But my cousin really likes it, so I agreed to knit the same outfit again when we get to two weeks before the big day.

Notes: I wanted to make this top down, as a pullover, not as a onesie, and I wanted to use two colors, Light Blue (MC). and Barley (CC). The “Milla’s Summer Suit” is a onesie knitted from the bottom up. I used the Top Down Baby Pullover stitch counts for size 9 to 12 months but changed the needle sizes to US #3 for ribbing and US #5 for the body, in order to match the top down pullover pattern’s gauge.
I used the smocking pattern from Milla’s Summer Suit only on the front, with a waist of ribbing all around the pullover. The contrast color is in the neck ribbing, with 2 two-row stripes in the body, the sleeve-edge ribbing and the bottom ribbing. This project is planned to go under a romper with reversed main and contrast colors, with stripes in the body. There are more details on my ravelry.com site under my ravelry name "Alluvus."
