    About

I've now finished all orders that I had. I would've finished this sooner but my OCD in getting it just right kicked in.

I've found with Scheepjes Whirl a 3.00mm hook works best for me. I used a 3.25mm hook and James C. Brett Baby 4ply for the edging.

I wanted to keep the shawl proper to one cake. At $30 AUD I didn't want to use a small portion of one cake and have the rest leftover.

I blocked the edging and the end result was a shawl / blanket 110cm across. Just 5cm smaller than my usual ones.

For my Wolltraum cakes I ordered larger ones so I'll be able to do the edging from the same cake.

Scheepjes Whirl has only 1,000 metres of yarn.

Hi Wendy. Thank you. One cake wasn't enough to do the shawl proper and the edging. I've bought some bigger cakes and when I've finished what I'm working on I'll be using one of them next.

Hi Tracy. Thank you. It sold in 2 days. Our unseasonably warm Winter is good for light weight items.

Your shawls are lovely but the yarn cakes really give them something else they look super. Did you make this pattern up like the other blankets?

Hi Sarah. Thank you. No I didn't make it up. I first used it when I was expecting my first child 30 years ago. I've posted the pattern on my Instagram along with step by step pics for my blankets. My Instagram is yarn_addict_oz

I'm expecting some Wolltraum cakes in a couple of day and some Wollfamos cakes next week. Delicious colours. They're on my Instagram too.

@Sarah T: My pleasure. My Wolltraum cakes arrived yesterday. They are gorgeous. It's going to be hard to use them instead of looking lovingly upon them. My Wollfamos cakes should arrive next week and I've got some handmade ones coming from Germany. The shipping cost is a killer, but that doesn't stop me :) I'm terrible.
