    About

A birthday gift for an outdoorsy dad, always in wellies. These are oversized socks to wear over jeans and inside a pair of wellies. The Rowan jacob yarn is quite coarse but is a lovely natural colour and still smells of sheep (which I loved).

Notes: This pattern had cabling and a bobble pattern on the cuff, which I omitted completely as I needed to finish the project quickly. They are very large but knit up quite quickly, about 7 hours per sock. The wrap stitches and short rows which form the heel are relatively simple but I had to keep the tension very tight to stop holes forming. The first sock had to be unravelled from toe to heel, so I could reknit it and close up the holes. The socks ended up about 23cm toe to heel and 41cm from cuff to heel, to fit a man's size 7 with a bit of give.
