    About

I'm teaching myself to make shaped knitting pieces, like the curved horns on these "Viking Helmets." Just in time for Halloween, I responded to a friend's request to make two hats -- one for her and one for her daughter. They wanted to celebrate their Norwegian heritage, and promised "to act tough and stuff" when they wear them! I knit the main body of this hat in the round, using long circular needles and the magic loop technique.

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 5.50mm (US 9) 120cm
    • Circular 4.00mm (US 6) 60cm

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
    • Stitch Markers
    • Stuffing
Other : You'll need pins to hold the horns in place while you're sewing them on. Try the hat on before you secure them! Changing the position of the horns makes a BIG difference in the final appearance of the hat.

Notes: This pattern makes a hat that fits an average adult head (a bit on the small side).
