Mom remodeled her kitchen a few years ago and none of the handmade things match anymore! The green and gray match the new scheme. I think they turned out really well, and she loved them :)
I did struggle a bit on the stitch count. Lost or gained stitches on all three because the top and bottom layers did not match perfectly. I stretched and squeezed and made it work. A bit of ironing and they all flattened out nicely.
After the first one I switched the joining to back loop of the top to front loop of the back to make it lay flatter.
I used a double strand of thin linen thread to get the gauge correct.
