    About

My Sister-in-law gave me this wonderful book for Christmas. It came with a request for the doll Jane which I made for her. With St. Patrick's Day quickly approaching, I thought that an Irish looking doll would be a nice decoration. This led to thoughts of my grandfather Patrick Collins who immigrated from Ireland to America in the 1920s. I started knitting "Patsy" on February 18 and finished her on the 26th. Yesterday, I decided to make her an extra garment (her short sleeved sweater) and an "Irish" bag. Now she looks ready for St. Patrick's Day. I photographed her with my grandfather's concertina. Throughout my childhood, he played his concertina for Irish step-dancers. I've included a photo of my grandfather from 1966 playing his concertina for some of the dancers.
If I were to win the ten skeins of Paintbox Yarn, I would knit "Patsy" a big sister!!

        Hi Terry,
I adapted the patterns in the book “My Knitted Doll” by Louise Crowther to personalize the Patsy doll. I searched online for a shamrock graph and then duplicate stitched it to her bag (since there isn’t a pattern for the shamrock in the book. Good luck and happy knitting.
