    About

I cannot help feeling a little pleased with myself for at last starting one on Claire Garland patterns. I haven't previously knitted anything with this method of construction, almost the whole thing is knitted as one piece although on this pattern the legs are separate and sewn on in the traditional method. It is despite my doubts very straightforward, I did get a bit confused when it came to sewing the head but it is fairly obvious which bit goes where and there are many images which helped.

    Pattern

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
      Drops Alpaca 4ply - White

    Accessories

    • Stuffing
    • Tapestry Needle
Other : This lamb is only lightly stuffed to give it more movement so I added a small cotton bag of weighted plastic pellets to the tummy area.

This is very lifelike. A great achievement Christine. I remember my satisfaction on completing Piglet (my first attempt at this technique) from the Disney Characters I crocheted (Tigger from my profile is from the same pattern). They have absolutely no separate pieces and I am now using this technique for knitting too.

Thanks Helen, I have to say I didn't think I would like the technique, I just loved the lamb. I think it's just the patterns look so scary but once you start they just seem to flow so I would definitely do more like this.

Great that youโ€™ve now knitted one. Your lamb is lovely. I like that youโ€™ve left the stuffing โ€˜softerโ€™, I overstuffed mine.

So did I at first and then when I took a load out it looked a bit like a cruelty case so I compromised by adding a bag of weighted pellets in the tummy that seemed to do the trick.

Thanks Janet and I agree so I'm going to make him a playmate in grey sooner of later. ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks Jackie, I was wondering whether to buy some black boucle whilst the
        Drops sale is still on.

Your wee newborn lamb is gorgeous Christine, the, wool is perfect for him and the colours are lovely. Isn't it funny how you can look at patterns and think ohh I'm not sure and when you do tackle them they end up not as hard as you thought.๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

You're so right Michelle, I think we can glance at a pattern and instantly decide how it's going to be, but this one proved to me that sometimes an open mind is the way to go. ๐Ÿ˜Š
