North Star Hat

I made this for myself. I walk my dog on chilly mornings, and needed a warm hat!

    About

This is my first attempt at knitting in two colors. I had fun with this pattern (which is well-written), and I learned a lot. The only thing I stumbled over was the gauge. I thought that the needle size recommended in this pattern would yield a hat that was too small (based on my sample swatch). So, I knit it on MUCH larger needles. A mistake... I'm hoping to shrink it a bit by washing it and running it through the dryer. We'll see...

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Double Point 8.00mm (US 11) 20cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Tapestry Needle

    Measurements

    Age: XL Adult

Notes: Be SURE to knit a gauge swatch in the two-color design! This pattern changes sizes by changing needle size. My small 20-stitch wide sample was no where near the recommended 18 stitches over 10cm / 4 inches. I increased the needle size to get the correct gauge. What I didn't count on was how much looser it would turn out knitting in the round. You may need to experiment a bit.
