Oodles of washclothes!

I made this for myself or to give as gifts with some luscious soaps.

    About

Intrigued by the 'almost lost washcloth' my first was not my last: they were ideal to knit while watching the Olympics (go Mo!) into the wee small hours of the morning. An easy pattern to memorise and I tried a round one called a 'Crazy eights dishcloth' from the same site - check the free knitting and crochet patterns.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 5.00mm (US 8) 25cm

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle

    Measurements

Notes: The 'Almost Lost' wash cloths measure about 22cms, point to point or diameter and the 'Crazy Eight' was about 19 cms diameter. One 50 g ball of the cotton yarn made 2 washcloths, except the pink one. I had to knit the last two rows and the cast off in spare white DY cotton Aran but it may not have been strictly necessary as I tried the long tale cast on method with this and used too long a 'tail'.

Michelle, they could be face flannels or dishcloths, they do both jobs! If you go to www.simplynotable.com and look for the An Almost Lost Washcloth Tutorial you can get the pattern. It’s very simple and self striping cotton gives great colours.

Have a go Louby Lou, the therapeutic value knitting these is terrific. Trouble is, you might want to keep them for yourself. Oh well, an excuse to knit more!
