I stumbled across the yarn used in this project at last October's knit and stitch show and fell in love with the colour. It was so different to any other yarn that I had worked with before and perfect to dress up that smart, but slightly dull, black dress for work.
Although slightly stressful to knit at times, particularly when I got 1/3rd of the way through the cast off row to realise I didn't have enough yarn to finish the project and had to undo three lines and recast off (several hours of work), the repetitive style of the pattern kept my busy mind from straying and allowed me to completely switch off from the hustle and bustle of the day to day job and relax. Surprisingly, despite the complexity of the pattern it only took me a week to finish but I needed to work on at least one repeat per night resulting in a beautiful product and better sleep! Now only to wait for it to be slightly warmer and less windy and the shawl and I will be off to work!
