    About

After taking some time out to get my garden "summer ready" I am now back to my knitting. I am in the process of putting the doll together but I am waiting for the yarn for her hair. I normally use large loop mohair from Little Oak Dolls but the site is temporarily closed. The hair is attached to a cap but as the yarn is Aran and the pattern is for dk I will have to attach it directly to the head as I do with the Tea room dolls. Unless I can get some dk that is similar in colour to the yarn for the hair. Hopefully she will be ready for a photo shoot quite soon!

Lol! Went to put the kettle on and came back to find him rolling in my knitting. He loves lying with his head on any ball of wool that happens to be lying around!

I really enjoyed your comment Denise, you are exactly right i am 55 but I have the same thoughts, doing crafts was something you just fitted in if you had time. Now I'm loving trying new things, and challenging myself and I think just taking the time and doing things for me. My mother, and sisters could do anything and I've always thought I'm not as talented but I'm happy with my knitting and the patterns that are out now are amazing and so much fun. I can't wait to see your new raggedy Anne doll, especially with the new hair.😊😊😊

Isn't it funny how the photos can change the colour so much. I was thinking of you when I was making the bakers hair Denise,I can see why you enjoy doing the hair it makes a huge difference to the finished product, I am a real face person that's the first thing I look at but now the hair is really catching my eye. I love the way you do the hair and I'm sure this new wool will be fine and you will be happy with it.😊😊

Michelle I think that we are all very talented but come from a generation where we ( or I) didn't have the opportunities to make a living out of it. Well I'm 63 so I'm talking about my generation. I loved art at school as well as cookery and needlework all of which I was really good at but you couldn't make a career out of it not then. So now at my age I am actually using my talent to do something that I really enjoy. I am no intellectual but I do have an artistic streak and I am really indulging myself at the moment. I apologise for my long post.

Thanks Michelle. I am really pleased with the colours although they are a little bit brighter and look even better than they look in the photos. I am busy putting the doll together and then I will tackle the hair. I'm a bit nervous about this as I am using different yarn (which hasn't arrived yet) but I'll enjoy the challenge!

I did try their shop on Etsy as well but it was closed due to family commitments. However, I received an e-mail today from Etsy to say the shop opened again today but I ordered alternative yarn yesterday. So I'm sort of disappointed but at the same time looking forward to trying a new yarn and seeing the end result. At the end of the day we knitters don't need much of an excuse to add to our stash!

@Denise C: Happy you're sorted Denise,I use to buy from them on Ebay and thought they'd disappeared permanently, however in the interim period I did have a play at dying some white boucle with natural dyes it's not the large loop which I think looks just right on the tearoom girls but I am happy with the look on the little yarn doll which I'm making at the moment.

@Christine R: I never thought of doing that as I have looked at some boucle but the colour has not been right. Look forward to seeing your doll when you have finished. I have now received my yarn for the hair so will hopefully finish the doll by the weekend. I get just as excited about seeing other projects as I do about my own lol.

Thanks Diane. I love the colours too but the photos don't do them justice, I have already ordered 2 more balls of Stylecraft batik elements and 2 more contrasting colours to make more dresses! Hopefully, the yarn I've ordered for the hair will look just as good as the Dolly Mo Mohair that I usually use!
