    About

This was a new doll and I really enjoyed creating her. There were a few issues with the pattern. The first shoe knitted was way too big so I knit another one on smaller needles which was ok but still too big. I then knit another one to match the second shoe which came out smaller but a better fit. After much pulling out and unravelling I eventually had two shoes the same size! The head band was too small (too much hair) but so was the belt! The cap for the hair was too small and I had to start again and make it bigger. Now I know I used different yarns stated on the pattern but I always do and never have any problems. It was a challenge but I rose to it and overcame the difficulties! My first attempt at adding hair using a cap and even though the instructions were vague for a first timer I learned as I went along. I didn't take into account that I used Aran wool rather than dk so ended up with a mass of hair longer than expected. Still happy with it.

Oh my these dolls are just gorgeous 💕 the hair gives her a great personality. Well done for perseverance, end result worth it. Equally as gorgeous is the ‘sneaky Peak eye’ your dog is giving tangled in your wool 😂 ‘who me?’ !

Thank you Jacqueline for your lovely comments. I agree with your comment about the hair it does give the doll a personality and it makes the dolls look completely different. I think its the same thing for women too lol.

Thanks Michelle and yes I am really pleased with her. I have already bought more yarn to knit my next doll so my plan to use up my stash has gone out of the window. I think I will use elements from both Raggedy Annabel and Tea Room dolls and use the techniques I prefer to work with for my next doll. However my next project is the Cockapoo from the puppy pack. I am waiting for the wool to arrive. I'm not sure if it will be a success but I am going to give it a go.

I can’t remember the last time I used the right yarn for the pattern or followed the pattern to the letter, I’m with you I swop and change and use trial and error. She was worth the challenge you faced she’s beautiful.

I love how we all put so much effort into getting our girls to look just perfect. I love everything about this girl, her hair is amazing and she looks so good in her dress. Well done with all effort.

@Christine R: Hi Christine. I have started to knit my Cockapoo and it is knitting up very small. I am using King Cole moments Eyelash yarn. Am I doing something wrong or are these dogs quite small?

@Denise C: Hi Denise yes they are quite small only about 7" and that includes the ears especially if your using an eyelash that's only the equivalent to a DK.
The bonus though if you want one a bit bigger you can substitute a aran or chunky weight eyelash and it still makes a reasonable size and you don't lose any of the face shape. I've also used the Moments yarn with a DK of the same or similar colour just to make it a bit bigger and it has worked well as you can't really see the DK when it's knitted.

@Christine R: Sorry just to make that last bit clearer you work with the Moments and the DK wool knitted together as a single strand.😊

@Christine R: Thanks Christine. The dogs look quite big in the photos so I thought I must be doing something wrong. I have knitted most of the body now so I will probably continue as it is, although I do have a dk quite similar to the colour of the eyelash yarn so who knows! Thanks for your help and advice, whatever I choose to do next I know that it will work out ok!

@Denise C: I look forward to seeing it Denise, they do look much bigger on the photo, I made the Yorkie first with the Moments yarn and it was very cute. What you find with the eyelash it's more stretchy when knitted than wool or acrylic so you can pack in more stuffing and end up with a nice plump puppy. 🐶

@Christine R: Thank you Christine for your advice. I am continuing with the moments. Its good to be able to discuss our projects with others who have the same interest in knitting and are able to help and advise others when we are unsure about a project.

Thank you Alison for your lovely comments. It took me out of my comfort zone but I enjoyed it. I always worry about the colours but I think they worked out in the end . I love large loop mohair so this was new but I love the result and I love the colour! I think I am getting better with experience.

Thank you Dianne for your lovely comments. I loved knitting this doll although I found it very frustrating at times. I have learnt how to add hair using a cap although I can see that I could have done it better but that is what it is all about. Finding better ways to do things as you go along.
