A classic swirl in a classic stitch!
This baby blanket consisted of one Body and twelve Petals, each knitted back-and-forth in rows on a single circular needle in shaker rib with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn.
On Row 13 of the Body, stitch markers were used to set up the remainder of the pattern. Then it turned into a simple 8-row repeat which required minimal counting. When the Body was completed, each Petal was finished separately to create the scalloped edging.
After knitting, a single seam was sewn to join the Body edges. (It’s strategically hidden in one of the purl “gutters”.)
I loved knitting this pattern. It took a few repeats before the swirling pattern became apparent, but it was worth the wait!
I think this pattern would make a mesmerizing full-sized afghan in a bright neon colorway.
