Super fun and super fast!
Worked from the center out, this baby blanket was knitted back-and-forth in rows on a circular needle with 2 strands of worsted weight.
The basic 6-row pattern consisted of 1 row of increasing/decreasing then 5 rows of plain knitting. The striping sequence also echoed the pattern repeat with color changing every 6th row. Since Color A was used for every other stripe, I carried it up the edge when not in use and knitted it into the first stitch of every other row to encase it. The other colors were cut and joined as needed. Once the last row was worked, a decorative picot bind-off finished it off.
After knitting, a single seam was sewn to join the blanket edges. Three Starfish were then worked with a single strand of yarn on smaller straight needles and then sewn to the blanket.
I also think this would make a gorgeous full-sized afghan knitted in a self-striping yarn.
