    About

After my grandmother passed away a couple of years ago, my mom was going through her things and came across her stash of yarn. My mom offered it to me and, of course, I took it! What a wonderful opportunity to get to use yarn that was my grandmother's! Most of the yarn was called Wintuk and seems to be from the 1970s. When I came across the pattern for this sampler afghan, I knew I had found the perfect project to make with Grandmother's yarn. I would honestly never buy these colors of yarn for myself, but I really wanted to do a project that incorporated many of Grandmother's skeins. I added some Red Heart and One Pound yarn I had on hand to finish out the project. I discovered that I really enjoy doing samplers! It was much less monotonous than a single pattern throw. I had fun making it (some of the squares were a challenge, but praise God, I mastered them!) And now I have something to cuddle up under that makes me think of my sweet grandmother!
