    Sausage was a free pattern and who can resist? I called him Sausage because Paddy’s other granny has a dog called Stanley so this little doggy can’t possibly be called Stanley when you are only three. So he’s Sausage!

      You know Hazel you would think I would be fine knitting baby things but honestly I have just knitted two pairs of booties that I had to pick up stitches,well I am hopeless thank golly for my sewing needle. When I do lacy things and start the decreasing I can't work out the pattern.lol.Maybe my daughter Nicole will be happy with hats, toys and booties that I don't have to pick up stitches.lol
      I would love to see your Mums comforter,you have made it with love for her and lots of thought,so it will be special.😊😊
      Well really Hazel,Paddy isn't asking for too much just a wee dinosaur, I think he has got really mean parents.lol😂😂😂

        Like you, I hate picking up stitches but you gotta do what ya gotta do, and hope for the best. I knitted some wonky looking articles for Penny!!! The dungarees I was so proud of we’re so baggy in the bottom region she could have worn four terry nappies on top of one another! But my daughter loved them and Quinn got them passed to her. It’s the love you make them with that’s important.

        Still plodding through the stitching up with the comforter but I’ll put it up ASAP.

        Paddy’s dad is, as I type, inventing a time machine so he can go back and get Paddy his dinosaur, just a wee one, mind. Paddy wants a triceratops or a stegosaurus! Like they can fit that in their flat. Lol.

      Well I was asking Elaine how she does her bands as I am hopeless at picking up stitches.lol.i am just knitting booties, hats and of course toys but I would really like to do some wee cardis and jackets to put away as well.its funny I went to my wool stash and I have so much girly colours lol, and she will probably have a boy.
      Did you finish your Mums comforter?Well if you knit another dachshund you will have to hide it when Paddy comes over or you will be in trouble again.😂😊

        If you can do toys little cardies and jumpers will be a doddle! If, like mine was, your first attempt is a bit awkward, then chalk it up to experience & have another go! I am just sewing the squares together for the comforter, then I’ll add the embellishments - buttons, ribbon, pom-poms and if I can, a zip. I don’t know what it will look like but I’ll let you be the judge.

        Paddy has gone home but apparently has asked his parents for a real dinosaur! So I think I’m safe knitting another dachshund.

      Hi Hazel thank you so much for telling me about the Amanda Berry tutorial on eye making,I would never have thought to do it like that.will definitely give it a try.
      I have started making some wee booties and hat sets to put away for my daughter, and you wouldn't believe how much girl colours I have.lol.

        Thanks Michelle, I thought that tutorial might be useful and Amanda is so great at toy design, you know it’s going to work.

        Are you starting a layette for your daughter? I love little bootees and mitten sets. I think my daughter needs persuading that Paddy needs a sibling, lol.

      Well how bout you knit a goldfish next and then maybe he will want a fish instead of a dog and it will get you out of the dog house.lol😊😊and if you do knit I fish I have the honour of naming it.hee hee.

        I have been trying to distract him with rabbits or guinea pigs but he is tenacious for a 3 year old and wants a sausage dog! But if I knit a fish you have naming rights! They have just left for London so the house is very quiet - neither my husband nor Sausage are big talkers, lol.

      Well I am going to try and knit Dexter the Labrador in black as my daughter's Dexter (lol) the lab is all black, with a grayish muzzle.I noticed you used ebony on sausage and Jan recommended I use that too, so will see how it goes.
      Hope you are having a lovely weekend and Paddy gets to see the famous Sausage today.😊😊

        Paddy loves his Sausage! It’s official! Now he wants a real one, so I’m in the doghouse (!). I’m still knitting the blanket but can’t wait to start the dogs. Needless to say I’ve not knitted a stitch with Paddy being here. I think your black lab will be awesome. It will be Sunday night with you so have a great week!

      I was lucky with my Mum she passed away 2 years ago in September and right up till that time she was living by herself, going to housie,getting her hair done every week etc. She had bad arthritis 2 plastic hips, and bad hands but she kept busy was an amazing baker and knitter.She lived in New Zealand though and I live in Melbourne so that was hard.Enjoy having your Mum with you,we don't always know what they are aware of and lots of photos and cuddles.😊😊I bet she loves her special blanket.

      That must be hard for you and your family Hazel with your Mum and her dementia, I have never heard of a comforter, that is such a special thing to make for her.Its amazing the things we can do to help now dementia comforters, trauma teddies, those wee octopuses.😊😊

        It is sad, dementia, but Mum seems okay in herself and has spells of lucidity. Usually when she isn’t under pressure to try to remember. She does think she’s back home in Scotland though but we just talk about what we all remember from those days. She tends to twiddle with her clothes so these ‘twiddle blankets” are meant to be another source of comfort & go across the lap.

      I am nearly finished knitting Jane the Louise crowther pattern you told me to try and really enjoying it ,fingers crossed she turns out ok.I am really noticing the difference in the time it takes to make it compared with the Deramore dogs, told you,I am impatient.lol😊
      Are you going to make Sausage number 2 the same colours or different ones this time,can't wait to see him, you will have dogs everywhere too.lol😁😁

      Well I told my husband about little" sausage" coming for a visit and he said those ladies must think you are a nutter,it's a wonder they talk to you.lol😁😂
      So now I might have two wee sausage dogs and a Chihuahua coming for a visit,woo hoo,there's a few live and toy dogs for them to play with here.lol😊😊

        Tell your husband I don’t think you’re a nutter! My husband likes the name ‘Sausage’, I told him about our name dilemma and he said that it was a good name for a dachshund!😆. Our dachshund is sitting on the settee currently with Paddy’s shark - i’ll Put up a photo.

      Oh have you seen Deramores released a new Chihuahua pattern today,but not sure if good idea as a companion for "sausage" as they are very bossy.lol😊😊

      Well if you get Sausage (nope I'm not calling him that, we will call him "daddy's wee man" lol), a passport he can come and have a play date.lol,with my wee "no name sausage dog". No it is the same over here, the meat product and term of endearment,but he's too cute to be called that, ask your husband.lol😂😂😂

      Michelle, is Sausage a euphemism in Melbourne? It’s either a minced pork product here, or a term of endearment or a nickname for something I’m unwilling to mention on this lovely site🤭. I’m guessing it’s similar on the other side of the world?

      He is gorgeous you have made a beautiful job of him,I like the way you have pulled his muzzle in more than I have. Isn't it funny we both have the same pattern and our dogs are a wee bit different.😊maybe they need to go on a dachshund date.😉😉😉

        Thank you Michelle! You didn’t give your dachshund a name but you should get a three year old to do it, over Skype! “What is it Granny?” “A dachshund” “What?” “ A Sausage Dog” “Sausage, Sausage, Sausage” followed by running round the living room! But your wee dog is beautifully knitted to and they shouldn’t be all alike.
