I'm being treated for for ovarian cancer and there are two things that help me through the very difficult days: knitting and my best friend, who is in Australia. My mother taught me to knit when I was young, but sadly I lost her to cancer three years ago. Taking up knitting during my own cancer battle has helped me feel closer to Mum, while also being able to create beautiful things for the people I love. This scarf is very special as it's for my best friend SJ, who has supported me every step of the way, despite the many oceans between us. I've also made a couple of scarves for my children, but I especially love this one as it's all merino/alpaca/100% wool. I love its colours, textures and imperfections. I personalised it with a name that is like a 'personal joke' between my dear friend and me.
