    First thing I've made for myself in a long time. I want to try my hand at lacy shawl knitting, and this seemed like a good project on which to get my feet wet. The pattern was free, and the yarn discounted (discontinued color-- no idea why-- it's gorgeous!); I thought a colorway named "Seafoam" and a pattern named "Surf" were made for each other!
    I started it July 1-- the say we started our cross-country road trip-- and got up to row 22 of the main section pattern before becoming completely flummoxed. It took me two or three days and a few messages back and forth on Ravelry with the designer to figure out that I had somehow completely muddled the count almost from the beginning. So I ripped out the forty or so rows I had done and started all over. As you can see in the photos, it's been clear sailing since!
