Simple stitches. Stunning results!
This shawl was knitted from left corner to right corner with 2 strands of fingering weight yarn. The allover pattern of staggered lace “scales” was worked in an easily memorized 4-row repeat. Best of all, it was one of those few patterns that allowed you to “stitch until the yarn runs out.”
I used 2 50-gram balls of Jazz Handz Motown Cotton Fingering in the Delirious colorway and it was an excellent choice. The gradually changing jeweltones combined with the “scale” pattern to produce a very rich effect.
Once the stitching was completed, wet blocking really opened up the lace - especially the double yarn-overs - and gave the textured pattern even more definition. I’m very happy with how it turned out!
I also think this pattern would make a striking evening scarf if made with one strand of Jazz Handz Motown Delirious paired with a coordinating metallic carry-along thread.
