I’m an intermediate knitter as well.
I, too had a lot of trouble getting started with this pattern and the short rows. It’s been a few years since I knitted this so all I can tell you is that I ripped and restarted several times until I got going. I wish I could say more…..
@Carol W: so nice you responded. I gave up and found an easier pattern. I even tried getting in touch with the designer but couldn’t tell her. It isn’t a good pattern. I’ve made some pretty hard ones including a fisherman knit, do think she did a lousy job of explaining.
@Carol W: I have found many patterns assume the language is clear. I’m self taught so I always think it’s me. I just keep going over and over the pattern and often turn to UTube videos for help.
I know that the “sweetie swing” pattern gave me fits even after trying to communicate with Lovecrafts about it. They never did explain it well, and again I finally just figured it out. But I was a wreck when it was over!
Sometimes you just have to put it down for a few days.
I love the way this has been knitted very neat I am considering getting this pattern did you have any trouble with the bottom edge rolling up? it does not look as if you did from the picture?
The pattern called for an I-cord bind off; something I had never done before. There are instructions in the pattern but I found instructions on U Tube easier to follow. The I-cord bind off prevents the rolling which I detest so it was well worth the extra effort. The whole sweater was an enjoyable challenge. I recommend it!
Let me know if you knit it.
