These are my first socks. It was definitely an adventure making them. I broke one of the double pointed needles making my first sock, then luckily as able to find a replacement (metal needle which was slightly larger, but still did the trick!) scavenging through my mom's old knitting closet.
I arrived back at my home and managed to break another needle (I sat on it) - I am now starting to understand why some people prefer metal over wooden needles. Luckily I could continue with the remaining 5. Finally about 15 rows from the end I lost the metal needle I'd found and tried to fix the broken needle by putting tape around it, but that didn't work out so well.
I managed to complete it with only 4 needles. Woohoo.
(Obviously the second, I'd finished the project I found the needle hidden in a basket under my bed.
