    About

My first attempt at a top down knitting pattern. Absolutely loved it.
Have now made two in DK wool, and latest effort is knitting it following 12 month pattern but in 3-ply and obviously smaller needles. SO CUTE!!!
There is an error in row 17 of the pattern where YO is missing before the final k5.
I've also now modified the pattern to knit the bands on at the same time which I think is easier and looks nicer.

Vicky, such beautiful knits, both in the pink and purple. It’s a shame pattern only goes to 12 mths, as I’d love to knit these for the grandies, but know 2 other baby girls who would look lovely in these. Can I ask what was the yarn you used for the purple one?

        Hi Lyn,
Thanks for that - I'm in love with this pattern. Hubby knows to keep quiet while I work through the yoke, but once I'm at the body stage it's plain sailing. The 4ply apricot one I'm doing now is also gorgeous. I just wish there was a similar pattern for boys as I think the "lace" work on this is definitely for a girl.
I used a Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn called Stellar which is 50/50 wool/bamboo (machine washable) in "Amethyst". Lovely to knit with and really good value for money - 200g ball $14.50 and I think once you spend over $50, free postage.

@Vicky P: I have just finished knitting the Sailor cardigan in leftover Stellar yarn that I had. Yes it is a great yarn, I love the slight sheen to it & definitely great value. Now that I have a BWM sample chart I find it so much easier to pick my colours. I visited the factory shop last year whilst down in Vic & stocked up and hubby commented that we wouldn’t have room for our suitcases! Plus I stocked up for my friend who was coming over from NZ. I have a delivery today of Classic 5 ply to pick up from BWM for jumper for other half. So I am definitely a fan of yarn from the Mills.

@Lyn R: Haha - he sounds like my hubby!
I am also knitting a jumper for the other half - in Stellar Lapis Lazuli - GORGEOUS colour! Very happy to have a couple of 200g balls over. You're very good knitting for him in 5ply!!! I'm impressed - hope he appreciates it.
Where is your friend from in NZ? - I'm originally a Dunedin girl...

This a gorgeous little cardigan. I just down loaded the pattern though I have so much wool and patterns to do already for this winter. Just another thing for the stash.
