    About

I loved all the patterns in Kate Davis new book Inspired by Islay and chose this pattern first as I fancied a meaty project.

    Pattern

    Oa by Kate Davies

    This pattern is from:

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 4.00mm (US 6) 40cm
    • Crochet Hook 3.50mm (US 4)
    • Double Point 4.00mm (US 6) 15cm
    • Circular 4.00mm (US 6) 100cm

    Accessories

Other : Used a crochet hook for the provisional cast on.

    Measurements

Notes: The largest size 57". I knitted the sleeve but had to rip back as it was far too tight. I cast on 54 sts, increased every second row to 64sts, increased every 3rd row to 138 sts. This fits. The increases I used were , knit into the front of the stitch, slip the back leg onto right needle, on the following row knit into the front of the first stitch and into the back of the slipped stitch. Sooooo neat! After joining the sleeves and body for the yoke, I decreased every row on the sleeve raglans, until I had decreases the additional sleeve stitches, but kept the back and front raglans as written in the pattern. I finished the hood steak with a crochet reinforcement and finished it with a Steek Sandwich as in Kate's tutorial. I like the neat edge it gave to both sides.
