    About

I started this project so that I would have something to knit while I was swatching another! My other project was mainly stockinette stitch, and as a fan of lace knitting, and interesting stitch patterns, I found I needed this project to break up all the st st.

One third of the skein was used after knitting 5 repeats of the Thistle pattern. Although I have a second skein, I’m going to leave the Thistle pattern at this as I want to keep the skein for another project. I think the scarf should still be a nice length after blocking (hopefully!)

I’ve a good bit of the column lace knitted now and it looks like there’s going to be enough yarn for a nice length scarf.
The thistle pattern took a bit of concentration, which I enjoyed! The column lace is a nice easy knit and is a nice contrast to the Thistle pattern, both aesthetically and technically.

I’ve just cast off! I didn’t intend to finish it before Bonny but I really enjoyed knit

    Pattern

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 4.00mm (US 6) 30cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
Other : T pins and blocking mat! An absolute must for lace knitting!

    Measurements

    12 ins x 70 ins

Notes: The pattern calls for 7 repeats of the Thistle lace chart but after 5 repeats I had 65g of yarn remaining so I decided to move onto the column lace panel. I could have probably fitted in a few more rows at the end before the 3 rows of garter as there was a small amount of yarn left over but I didn't want to take the chance and I was too eager to finish it to rip out the 3 rows of garter!
